Terms ofService

Last updated: August 29, 2026

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using UpFuel. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by them.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

Welcome to UpFuel. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website located at https://upfuel.online and any related pages, features, and services (together, the "Site"), operated by UpFuel ("UpFuel," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. If you are using the Site on behalf of an organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf.

2. Definitions

  • "Content" means all text, guides, articles, graphics, infographics, illustrations, data tables, metadata, and other materials available on the Site.
  • "Safety Information" means any part of the Content that describes hazards, precautions, ventilation requirements, appliance ratings, standards, regulations, or emergency procedures.
  • "You" or "User" means any person who accesses or uses the Site.
  • "Third-Party Services" means services operated by others, including advertising, analytics, and linked websites.

3. Eligibility

The Site is intended for a general audience. If you are a minor in your jurisdiction (generally under 18), you may use the Site only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. By using the Site you represent that you can form a binding contract and are not barred from doing so under applicable law.

4. What This Site Is — and What It Is Not

4.1 UpFuel is an independent publisher of educational guides about indoor fuel use, heating and cooking appliances, combustion, carbon monoxide, and fuel science. Our Content is general information intended to help you understand a subject and ask better questions.

4.2 The Content is not professional advice. Nothing on the Site is engineering, legal, medical, or safety-certification advice, and no part of it creates a professional relationship between you and UpFuel. See our Disclaimer for the full statement.

4.3 Your appliance manual and local regulations always take priority. Where anything on the Site differs from the instructions supplied with your appliance, from applicable building, gas or fire regulations, or from the direction of a qualified engineer or inspector, those sources govern and our Content does not. Requirements differ substantially between countries, states and municipalities, and they change.

4.4 Gas work must be carried out by a qualified professional. In the United Kingdom, work on gas appliances must be carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer; comparable licensing requirements apply in most other jurisdictions. Nothing on this Site authorizes or encourages you to install, modify, convert or repair a fuel-burning appliance yourself.

4.5 In an emergency, stop reading and act. If a carbon monoxide alarm sounds, if you smell gas, or if anyone shows symptoms of carbon monoxide exposure, leave the building immediately and call your local emergency services from outside. Do not use this Site as a troubleshooting step in an emergency.

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 All Content on the Site — including our written guides, headings, data tables, infographics, illustrations, site design, code, branding and logos — is created by or licensed to UpFuel and is protected by intellectual property laws. The "UpFuel" name and logo are our trademarks and may not be used without permission.

5.2 Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-commercial license to access and read the Site, and to print or save copies of individual guides for your own reference. You may quote short excerpts with clear attribution and a link to the source page.

5.3 You may not republish our guides in whole or in substantial part, sell or sublicense the Content, or present it as your own work, without our prior written permission.

5.4 Machine-readable copies. We publish machine-readable versions of our Content at /llms.txt, /llms-full.txt and /api/posts.json, and a markdown copy of each guide. These are offered to help AI systems, researchers and integrators use our material accurately. If you use them, we ask that you attribute UpFuel, link to the source page, and preserve the safety conditions attached to any figure you quote. A number without its conditions can be actively dangerous in this subject area.

5.5 Third-party material. Figures, standards references and data cited on the Site remain the property of their respective owners and are used for identification, commentary and education.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the Site in violation of any applicable law;
  • use automated tools, bots, scrapers, or crawlers in a way that overloads our infrastructure (our machine-readable endpoints exist precisely so you do not need to);
  • interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site or its servers;
  • remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices;
  • republish our Content in a way that strips out safety conditions, warnings or context;
  • use the Site to distribute malware or engage in fraudulent, harmful, or deceptive activity; or
  • misrepresent our Content as professional certification, approval or endorsement of any product or installation.

7. Submissions, Corrections and Feedback

If you send us a correction, comment, suggestion or other material, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use it to improve the Site, including publishing a corrected figure. We welcome corrections and take them seriously — see our Editorial Policy. We may review, decline, edit, or remove submissions at our discretion, and we are under no obligation to keep submissions confidential.

The Site links to Third-Party Services and external sources, including government agencies, safety authorities and standards bodies. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party site. Links do not imply endorsement, and your use of third-party sites is governed by their terms.

9. Advertising and Google AdSense

9.1 The Site is supported by advertising, including Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and/or other sites on the Internet.

9.2 You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings (https://www.google.com/settings/ads), or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising via https://www.aboutads.info/. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before advertising and other non-essential cookies are set, and (for users in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland) we use a Google-certified consent management platform to gather that consent.

9.3 We are not responsible for the content of advertisements or for the products or services they promote. An advertisement for an appliance on this Site is not a recommendation by UpFuel, and it is not a statement that the appliance is safe or suitable for your room. Our editorial content is independent of advertising, as described in our Editorial Policy.

10. Cookies and Analytics

10.1 The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for functionality, advertising, and analytics. For full details, see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

10.2 Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site. It sets cookies and collects information such as pages viewed, session duration, approximate location, and device/browser data. You can opt out using Google's browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

10.3 Microsoft Clarity. We partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with the Site through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve our services. For more information, see the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

10.4 Your choices. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where offered, through our consent tool. California residents and users covered by other privacy laws may have additional rights, including the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising; see our Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimers and No Warranty

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any Content is accurate, complete, current, or applicable to your appliance, your room, or your jurisdiction. Nothing on the Site is professional, engineering, legal or medical advice.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UPFUEL AND ITS OWNERS, OPERATORS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SITE OR ANY CONTENT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100.00).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless UpFuel and its owners and operators from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any law or third-party right.

14.1 We respect intellectual property rights and respond to notices of alleged infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"). If you believe material on the Site infringes your copyright, please notify us at editors@upfuel.online.

14.2 Your notice must include: (a) your physical or electronic signature; (b) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed; (c) identification of the material claimed to be infringing and its URL/location on the Site sufficient for us to locate it; (d) your contact information (name, address, phone, email); (e) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and (f) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on its behalf.

14.3 Full procedure, including counter-notification, is set out in our DMCA & Copyright Policy.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

15.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, to the extent applicable, the jurisdiction in which the operator of UpFuel is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

15.2 You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site will be resolved in the courts having competent jurisdiction over the operator of UpFuel, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts, except where prohibited by applicable law.

16. International Users

The Site is controlled and operated from the United States. We make no representation that the Site or its Content is appropriate or lawful in other locations. Appliance standards, ventilation requirements and gas regulations differ substantially between countries — figures cited here may reflect US, UK or EU practice and may not apply where you live. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for compliance with local law.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes may be highlighted on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

18. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Site, in whole or in part, at any time and for any reason, including violation of these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) will survive termination.

19. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and UpFuel regarding the Site.
